(PETERSEN MEDIA- Merced, CA)- While Monster trucks were the main attraction at Merced Speedway on Friday and Sunday, Saturday night featured a great night of racing as Paul Stone, Shannon Nelson, Chris Corder, and Rick Elliot each scored wins in their divisions.
With 17 IMCA Modifieds in attendance on Saturday night, it was Paul Stone leading the way. Stone would grab the win over Ryan Porter, and Cody Burke rounding out the podium.
Three heat races were also ran for the Mods, and wins went to D.J. Shannon, Austin Burke, and Jesse Burks.
Shannon Nelson was again the class of the field with the Hobby Stocks as 14 of them checked in for action. Nelson grabbed the win for the second consecutive week as she led the way over Austin VanHoff and Domossie Scoggins.
In two Hobby Stock heats, wins went to Robbie Loquaci and Michel Shearer.
Chris Corder took top honors with the Mini Stocks as he bested the nine car field over Lucy Falkenberg, and Lee Ragsdale.
Falkenberg and Corder were each victorious in heat race competition early in the night.
Five Valley Sportsman checked in for action, and it was Rick Elliot making his way to the top step of the podium. Elliot grabbed the win over Eric Seely and Marc Friesen.
Chris Corder won the lone heat race of the night.
Taking this weekend off, the action returns to Merced Speedway on May 18th with IMCA Sport Mod’s, Hobby Stocks, Valley Sportsman, and Mini Late Models on the cards.
Saturday, May 18th, the pit gates will open at 2PM with the draw closing promptly at 5pm.
The main grandstands will open at 5pm with tickets available to adults for $12, Seniors $10, Kids 6-12 just $5, while those 5 and under will be admitted at no charge.
