(PETERSEN MEDIA- Merced, CA)- Welcoming winged sprint cars to Merced Speedway for the first time in 2025 on Saturday night, it was Fresno, CA driver Dominic Scelzi winning a thrilling 35 lap feature event as he was joined in victory lane by Valley Sportsman winner, Mike Gillard and Hobby Stocks winner Chad Johnson.
A total of 43 winged sprint cars checked into the Merced Speedway on Saturday night and the race lived up to the hype.
Dominic Scelzi battled the likes of Braden Chiaramonte and Dominic Gorden for the top spot all night long, but in the end it was the veteran out gunning the new comers as he picked up the win.
Gorden hung on to finish second as Tony Gomes rounded out the podium in third. Rounding out the Top-10- included Kaleb Montgomery, Max Mittry, Ashton Torgerson, Tanner Carrick, Jodie Robinson, Grant Duinkerken, and Mariah Ede.
In the support divisions on Saturday night, Mike Gillard bested the Valley Sportsman division, as Chad Johnson fended off Nicholas Johnson, Ethan Johsnon, Jimmy Brewer, and Lilly Mead in Hobby Stock action.
This week the track will stay dark before the lights come back on May 3rd for N&S Tractor Night.
