(PETERSEN MEDIA- Merced, CA)- Returning to racing action over the weekend following a successful weekend with the Monster Trucks, Nick Velazquez took top honors during the Dwarf Car Nationals event as he was joined in victory lane with Dan Myrick, Paul Stone, Justin Smart, Bobby Hogge, and Tom Morley.
With the Dwarf cars broken up into three divisions for their National event, Saturday night was all about Nick Velasquez in the pro division. Velasquez was able to race his way to the win as he was flanked by Joe Frock, JD Brown, Ronnie Williams, Shawn Whitney, Spanky Grenert, Steve Costello, Bryson Smith, Dewey Meyers, and Isaak Geil rounding out the Top-10.
In the Dwarf Veteran division, Tom Morley was the top dog on this night. Morley raced to the win over Mark Biscardi, Mike Reeder, Ronnie Williams, and Toby Brown rounding out the top five.
Justin Smart was victorious in the Sports Dwarf feature event. Smart fended off the likes of Justin Bingman, Corey Furr, Matthew Demore, and Rick Rogers to pick up the feature event win.
Joining the Dwarf Cars on Saturday night were also the West Coast Mini Stocks, the IMCA Stock Cars and the IMCA Modifieds.
The West Coast Mini Stock feature event win went to Dan Myrick. Myrick secured the big win over Ryland McCoy, Kevin Thompson, Larry Dowell, and Jeff Durant.
The IMCA Modified division had a familiar face picking up the feature event win. Veteran standout Bobby Hogge flexed him muscle as he powered to the win over Gavyn Manning, Josh Combs, Troy Foulger and Paul Stone.
While Stone finished fifth in the Modified feature, he would not be denied in IMCA Stock Car action as he picked up the win in the 20-lap feature over Foulger, Mike Shepherd, Riley Jeppesen, and Kenneth Robles.
With the Dwarf Car Nationals now in the rear view mirror, Merced Speedway is pleased to host the Sprint Car Challenge Tour to the track this weekend for the Easter Eggstravaganza. Aside from thrilling racing action, there was also be an Easter Egg Candy give away from the drivers during intermission.
